(974) KC Royals vs (973) CLE Indians
Pick: Take (973) CLE Indians
Analysis: A pair of struggling veteran pitchers here, but one has quietly turned things around. Cleveland ace C.C. Sabathia is 3-6 on the season with a high ERA, but look what he’s done lately: a 1.17 ERA his last three starts. He fanned 24 in 23 innings with just 5 walks. KC starter Brett Tomko also has 6 losses and few wins, but he’s getting worse: A 6.11 ERA for the season and a 7.16 ERA his last three starts. Last place KC averages just 3 runs per game at home! A much better spot for the visitors. Play the Indians!

(912) CHI Cubs vs (911) COL Rockies
Pick: Take Over
Analysis: You need to throw strikes and not walk batters if you want to avoid big innings and a high ERA. That’s a problems with Colorado starter Ubaldo Jimenez, who has walked 33 in 58 innings. That’s why his ERA is over 5. In fact, on the road it is 6.95! Chicago starter Sean Gallagher is no control specialist, either, with 10 walks in 26 innings and a 4.50 ERA. The Cubs are No. 1 in the NL in runs scored, so look for a high scoring game in tiny Wrigley Field. Play the Rockies/Cubs over the total!

(910) MIL Brewers vs (909) ATL Braves
Pick: Take (910) MIL Brewers
Analysis: Dave is set to deliver another powerhouse underdog winner to all callers Wednesday night. Make the call to 1-888-389-7223 and receive this dynamite side for only $10!…”The Brewers have been a flop for the most part this season. But there’s a still a long way to go and I can’t see this capable offense not exploding at some point. Off a good win on Tuesday, Milwaukee looks well positioned to garner another victory here. Jeff Suppan has gotten it together to some extent, and I like the Brewers to take some liberties against Braves southpaw Jo Jo Reyes, who’s about one or two more bad starts away from a return trip to Richmond. I’ll spot the small price with the Brewers.”

(926) LA Angels vs (925) DET Tigers
Pick: Take (925) DET Tigers
Analysis: Detroit has a winning record the last 9 games as the offense is hitting. They’ve scored 9 or more runs in 4 of the last 8 games. One starter who has been very strong is Armando Galarraga, with a winning record and a 3.70 ERA. LA starter Joe Saunders has thrown 12 innings against these Tigers and allowed 13 hits, so they are familiar with him. The Angels are just 2-2 the last four games they’ve been this big a favorite. A good spot for the visitors, Play the Tigers!

(958) NY Mets vs (957) FLA Marlins
Pick: Take Under
Analysis: Shea Stadium is a great pitcher’s park. Notice that the Mets average almost 5 runs per game on the road, but 4.5 at home. The Mets are 10th in the NL in runs scored, and a pair of aces take the mound here. Maybe Florida’s 22-year old starter Andrew Miller isn’t yet an ace, but he’s pitching like one: a 0.95 ERA his last three starts. That’s why they traded Miguel Cabrera and Dontrelle Willis for him. Mets lefty Johan Santana is an ace, the best southpaw in the game. Don’t look for a lot of runs, play the Marlins/Mets under the total!

(920) LA Angels vs (919) DET Tigers
Pick: Take (920) LA Angels
Analysis: Dave’s Monday Under the Hat play is being discounted to just $25. That’s half the regular daily rate, so get the goods on this play right now at Dave’s Pure Gold Club!… “The Angels got shut down pretty well in an extremely well pitched weekend set in Chicago. But the Halos bats should come alive tonight as they get their swings against shopworn Kenny Rogers, who just isn’t fooling many hitters anymore. The Tigers had a couple of huge explosions against the Twins but they haven’t maintained those outbursts for more than a couple of games. And sure enough, they were shut down yesterday by Glen Perkins and now must hit the road. I favor Jon Garland and the Angels tonight.”

(930) OAK Athletics vs (929) BOS Red Sox
Pick: Take (930) OAK Athletics
Analysis: This is a long road trip for the Red Sox and they have been a bad road team at 10-14. You rarely find wagering value backing a big name like ace Josh Beckett. However, when struggling, aces can be great to go against. Beckett is off two poor games, losing 5-4 at Baltimore and giving up 6 runs, all on home runs, in an 11-7 win over Milwaukee. Oakland plays best at home and goes with Justin Duchscherer, who has been terrific with a 2.67 ERA. In 20 career inning against Boston he has a 2.66 ERA while striking out 23 with only 4 walks. A great spot for the home dog, play the A’s!

(964) SDG Padres vs (963) CIN Reds
Pick: Take Under
Analysis: It’s no secret that San Diego has the best pitcher’s park in baseball, one with a huge outfield. Batters hate the park as it skews down their averages and pitchers love it. How about the Padres offense averaging less than 3 runs per game at home! That’s why they started 14-5 under the total at home. Veteran Greg Maddux has an ERA over 5 on the road, but 1.42 at home! Both starters in this one know how to throw strikes. These offense are in the bottom 6 in the NL in runs scored, with the struggling Padres dead last. Don’t look for a lot of offense, Play the Reds/Padres under the total!

(910) FLA Marlins vs (909) SF Giants
Pick: Take (909) SF Giants
Analysis: Dave’s AL Game of the Month goes Saturday, and he’s making it available to everyone for the low cost of just $25. That big play is just part one of a dynamite three game slate that you’ll find at Dave’s Solid Gold Club. Get set to go 3-0 with this stellar trio highlighted by Dave’s AL Game of the Month!… “Matt Cain suffered from a severe form of gopheritis in his last start. The Giants righty is normally pretty stingy with the long ball, but the White Sox nailed him four times last weekend. I like Cain to rebound here against a Marlins squad that continues to win way more often than anyone thought they would. But the Marlins are struggling offensively just now, mostly due to the slump Hanley Ramirez is going through. I also have no trouble asking even the feeble SF offense to do some damage against Florida rookie Badenhop, who really isn’t advanced enough for this level yet. Cain and the Giants are the choice.”

(966) LA Dodgers vs (965) STL Cardinals
Pick: Take (965) STL Cardinals
Analysis: St. Louis continues to impress, winning 4 of 5 games. Starter Adam Wainwright sports a 3.25 ERA and the Cardinals are 5-2 his last 7 starts. LA has been a .500 team this month, and it doesn’t help that starter Derek Lowe has been inconsistent with a 5.34 ERA and a 2-4 record. The Dodgers are 1-3 in his last 4 starts and Lowe is 1-4 lifetime with a 5.93 ERA against St. Louis. A good spot for the visitors, play the Cardinals.
